6 month stats!

My life is not usually exciting enough for you to want to read about it unless there are pictures of Nancy to go along with it. But in the past couple of weeks Jared and I have been re-living our childless days (wait, did we ever have childless days?) by going to a couple concerts. We found out Jenny Lewis (lead singer of Rilo Kiley) was playing in Lawrence, so we bought tickets to that show. We haven't been to a concert in over a year, and we thought we deserved a little fun. So then, the day after we bought the tickets, we found out that the following week in Tulsa, Jenny Lewis was opening for none other than Conor Oberst (lead singer of bright eyes), who happens to be me and Jared's all time favorite musician. We knew it was probably not the most responsible thing to go to two concerts in two weeks, in towns that are 3 hours away from home, when we have a 6 month old baby and no money. But we decided to do it anyway. So, in a matter of two weeks, we left the baby with my mom twice, went to two out of town shows, returned home at 3 in the morning, and woke up at 6:30 like usual. We are tired and achy and broke, but, hey, the shows were amazing and worth it, and most likely it will be years before we go to another.

So now, the reason you are really here.....to see my beautiful daughter. There were way too many cute pics of her in her 6 month onesie, so sorry for the photo overload. She's just so stinking cute. Plus, check out her standing up while leaning against the back of the couch.

Cherrios and bananas

Is it weird that I blog about every new food Nancy eats?

Even though she puts every single things she find into her mouth, she did not want to put a cherrio in her mouth.
So, mom put it in for her
She liked it and wanted more.

Here, she is trying to pick up a piece of banana
not so sure about the bananabut over all, it was a good experience.

Jacob and Nancy photo shoot

On nice days, Nancy and Jacob and I sit outside and wait for Brendan and Seth to come home from school. Here is a look at that. I love the next three photos. I'm tickling Jacob while taking them. He looks so beautiful and happy.

And here he is getting ready to throw a fit
Here he is throwing the fit
Here is Jacob's first attempt at taking a photo of me and Nancy
And here is a much more successful one. You can't tell this was taken by a 4 year old.

Big news

Before I go on and on about my own daughter, I have to give a shout out to someone else's daughter for once. Here is my college roommate, Melissa's brand new little one, Tennyson, with her Andi-inspired hair-do. Isn't she precious? Remember when Nancy was that small? (Didn't take me long to get back to my own daughter, did it? Melissa, I'm sure you understand)And now for some HUGE news. my super baby, who is not yet six months old, is now crawling. On Tuesday my grandmother, my mom, and I were all sitting around watching Nancy play on the floor with some toys. She was doing her adorable little thing where she gets in the crawling position, then rocks back and forth, and throws her but up in the air, like a little froggy. And for a moment, her uncoordinated little limbs coordinated themselves and she crawled. We all shouted so loud that Nancy got scared and stopped crawling. She sat herself back up on her adorable little tush, and stared at us, wondering what all the fuss was about. Since then, she has been crawling all over the place. Of course, her technique still needs quite a bit of work, but she is getting better at an alarming rate. I am going to have double my efforts at keeping an eye on her constantly. The crazy baby will be walking before I know it. It seems like the more mobile she gets, the more bumps on the head she gets. But I guess that is all part of growing up. Well, of course, I don't have any pictures of her crawling, but I'm sure I will get some up soon. Here's some other cute pictures that I sure you will enjoy.

For those of you who don't know Nancy well, her favorite things to chew on are paper products of any kind.

Allie's visit

For those of you who don't know, Allie is my oldest friend. We have been friends for 18 years, since the 5th grade. I had just moved to a new school in a new town, and Allie befriended me right away. On our first play date we drew pictures in her dining room. Now she is an extremely talented artist who lives in Brooklyn. She has an art exhibit at the Salina Art Center, so she came out here for the opening. She spent a night at our house, where she got to meet Nancy for the first time. Then Jared and I went to Salina on Thursday for the opening, and spent the night there, with Allie. It was so great to see Allie, and also to learn how adorable and artsy Salina is- who knew?
Here are some photos of her installation

Here's me, Allie, and Nancy in front of Allie's art
