we made chocolate chip cookies on saturday. Nancy Lu saw us making them, and of course, had her first bite of cookie. later on that afternoon, i was in the living room reading to the boys, and i heard Nancy walking around the kitchen. a few minutes later, she walked into the living room with a big cookie in each hand, and a big bite of cookie in her mouth. she had found a small plastic kid chair, dragged it into the kitchen, pushed it over to the counter, climbed up, and helped herself to the cookies. she is getting too smart for her own good.
and a few weeks ago, i changed her diaper, and she took the dirty one from me, walked into her bedroom and put it in the dirty diaper pail.
she can also put the top on a marker.
and while i am bragging, i might as well brag about Seth. we received a letter from his teacher recently that said Seth, who is in kindergarten, is moving up to the 1st grade reading block. he has started reading first grade books and doing first grade reading/writing homework. the note also said that he would start doing 2nd grade sight words, because he knows all the kindergarten and first grade sight words. a week later, i got a phone call from his teacher. seth knows all the 2nd grade sight words, and will start learning 3rd grade ones.
Brendan is still doing great in school. his favorite subject is social studies- he says he loves learning about people from history. his progress report said that he is really learning to control himself when he is bored. now, instead of disrupting the class when he is done with his own work, he will read to himself or help other students.
in other news, Jacob is starting school at Cloud today- the same school his brothers go to! he will finish out his pre-k year there, instead of at head start, where it wasn't really working out for him. this way, he will be more comfortable at Cloud, when kindergarten starts, and will hopefully not have many problems in his classroom.

good times on spring break
we made a mud pool in our back yard
and got very dirty.
and had a lot of fun

even nancy joined in the fun

then they got cold and wanted to go inside

bathtime!
they all took showers and this was some of the mud leftover in the tub
eventually they were clean again, at which point Seth asked if they could get back in the mud.

update
God has been doing some wonderful things in our lives that I never seem to mention on the blog because there are always so many cute pictures of Nancy to look at.
Our church, Restored, has been growing and doing amazing. We see new faces all the time and a lot of them stick around for the long haul. Our three life groups were getting too large, so we started another life group, which Jared and I lead. It has been challenging to be in a leadership position for the first time in my life, but it is really amazing. I am excited to walk my group through this time in their lives, as they (and Jared and I) continue growing closer to God. We are all focusing on discipleship- what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, and how to actually live that out. Jesus said, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me." So, that is what we are trying to do.
Another exciting thing in my life is that I joined the Restored praise team a few months ago. I have had a secret fear/dream of singing in front of people for as long as I can remember, and I am finally doing it. Its a bit nerve-racking, especially following Brandy, our Restored praise team superstar, but I love still love it.
There has been a change at home, too. We now have the boys full time. At first Jared and I were a bit worried about losing our Saturdays with just us and the baby, but it has turned out to be a blessing. We get to spend much more time with the boys, instead of just after school during homework and dinner. The boys adjusted well to the new schedule and their behavior is continuing to improve.
Things are crazy and busy and stressful at times, but my life is filled with so much joy, from husband, from my kids, from my church family, and especially from my God who saved me from a life and death without hope. It's much easier to deal with life's craziness and uncertainties, when I know one day this life will be over and our real life will begin, where there will be no tears and no sadness, no dysfunctional families, no bills, and no commuting to work an hour away, and all we will do is praise God all the time, like we were meant to do.
And of course, here's a picture of Nancy....
